Peter Pan Prequel “Pan” Gets a New Trailer

It looks like the live-action-version-of-a-popular-cartoon train isn’t stopping anytime soon as Warner Brothers has kicked down with another trailer for their live action Peter Pan origin story (directed by Joe Wright), simply titled Pan. I have no problem with these live action films, but find it curious there’s so many given that none have really reached huge success.

Granted, the sample size is small with Cinderella, Maleficent and Snow White and the Huntsman coming to mind as recent examples. But along with Pan, we will soon see a live-action version of Beauty and the Beast as well as Pete’s Dragon. There’s also work being done on a live action Winnie the Pooh and Disney today announced that Genies, a prequel to their hit animated film Aladdin is coming to the big screen.

I guess when cinephiles started griping about too many superhero movies, their lack of ideas for what they want more of didn’t exclude live-action cartoon movie remakes! That being said, I feel kind of mixed about this Pan trailer and it’s predecessor. While it certainly looks epic and wonderfully shot, I’m curious who this film is for as it looks too “adult” for kids and too goofy for adults. We shall see.
