The Lobster- Trailer

One of the most unique and amazing films I’ve ever seen was Dogtooth, a truly trippy yet somehow moving Greek film from 2009 directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. Described thusly “Three teenagers live isolated, without leaving their house, because their over-protective parents say they can only leave when their dogtooth falls out” it’s much, much better and weirder than that and I recommend you check it out on the old Netflix.

Like any forward moving director who gets on the map with a powerful indie or widely seen foreign film, they usually get to work with fancy schmancy American actors and such is the case as you will see from this trailer for Lanthimos’ newest film The Lobster.

What I’ve gleaned from the trailer is that Colin Farrell plays a man who goes to a retreat in order to fall in love. The catch it, if he doesn’t fall in love by the end of his visit, he is turned into an animal. Judging by the fact the film also stars Rachel Weisz, she must be the one he goes after as stars in movies only date other stars. Trust me, the trailer makes it sound much better than this posting and it also reminds me I need to watch Lanthimos’ Dogtooth follow-up Alps which has been on my Netflix queue far too long. The Lobster hits theaters this fall.
