Well, that looks pretty fantastic, wouldn’t you say? I’m speaking of course of the new trailer for The Revenant which now looks poised to win all the awards and make all the money this winter. And if the movie is as good as that trailer, I’m pretty much cool with that.
The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as fur trapper Hugh Glass who, as is seen in the trailer, is attacked by a bear and left to die. He doesn’t. He gets mad. He’s seeking revenge. This film has been a real bear (see what I did there?) to film as well, taking way more time and money than originally planned. This is due to ever-changing weather conditions and director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s desire to shoot in only natural light. We’ll see if it all comes together when The Revenant hits theaters on January 8. More info below…
Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption. THE REVENANT is directed and co-written by renowned filmmaker, Academy Award® winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman, Babel).
